Abhiman Hande, Ph.D., Principal Engineer

Abhiman Hande is the Principal Engineer at Texas MicroPower Inc. and involved in development of energy harvesting (EH) systems, circuits, solutions, and IP. He is designing EH systems based on specific customer requirements as well as standalone products including unique power management solutions in EH. He has several years of experience in power electronics, microcontroller-based embedded systems, and applications for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Before joining TMP, he was a research associate in the electrical engineering department at UTD. He was involved in switch mode power supply design and design of EH techniques for wireless sensor nodes. He has and still advises graduate students in their research and participates in thesis committees. He was an Assistant Professor in the electrical engineering department at Lake Superior State University, Michigan prior to joining UTD.

He received his B.E degree from the University of Bombay in 1996, and his M.S and Ph.D degrees from the University of Toledo (UT) in 2000 and 2002 respectively all in Electrical Engineering. As a graduate student at UT, he worked on NREL and DaimlerChrysler funded projects that focused on improving the performance and extending the life of electric/hybrid electric battery packs. He received the Outstanding Research Award in 2002 among graduate students at UT in view of his dissertation research.

He has over 30 refereed papers and is actively involved in the power electronics community. He serves as a technical reviewer/committee for several journals and conferences, and on NSF SBIR/STTR review panels. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), and an Associate Member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
